Terms of Service

Last updated: August 2026

1. Introduction & Platform Scope

Book A Chef Kenya ("we", "us", "our") operates an online marketplace connecting private dining clients ("Diners" or "Clients") with independent professional culinary artists ("Chefs"). By accessing or using bookachef.co.ke, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Service.

2. 100% Platform Payment & Escrow Structure

Book A Chef operates a 100% platform-secured payment model. Clients pay 100% of the total dining cost directly through Book A Chef via M-Pesa. Clients must never pay chefs directly in cash or off-platform. Book A Chef safely manages and disburses chef earnings across service milestones (including a 60% pre-service ingredient advance upon confirmed booking, and 40% final balance upon verified dining completion).

3. Chef Responsibilities & Food Safety

All Chefs on Book A Chef are independent culinary contractors who have undergone identity vetting and food handler certification reviews. Chefs are responsible for sourcing fresh, high-quality ingredients, adhering to professional food safety hygiene standards, preparing courses in the Client's kitchen, and leaving cooking areas clean after service.

4. Client Kitchen & Facility Access

The Client agrees to provide a clean, functional kitchen environment with working cooking appliances (stove, oven, refrigeration, and running water). The Client must disclose all dietary allergies and restrictions during the booking process.

5. Cancellation & Refunds

Cancellations are governed by our official Cancellation Policy. Notice provided at least 72 hours prior to service qualifies for a 95% refund of total booking fees paid (5% platform handling fee). Cancellations within 24 hours of service are non-refundable due to fresh perishable food procurement.

6. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Kenya. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kenya.
